Spore Counts remain both variable and high

Grass samples tested this week from the MVS Monitor Farms have shown the following:
  • Hinuera Monitor Paddocks – 21,600 spores/gram
  • Matamata Monitor Paddocks – 5,000 spores/gram
  • Te Poi Monitor Paddocks – 5,000 spores/gram
  • Tirau Monitor Paddocks – 175,000 spores/gram
  • Walton Monitor Paddocks – 11,600 spores/gram

Counts seen across local monitor farms are typical for Matamata at this time of the year.  It is important to remember that the risk of Facial Eczema is always near peak towards the end of the season therefore, unless monitoring, assume high risk and continue to treat with Zinc.

Remember that spore counts vary from farm to farm and the only way to know your risk to check your grass for spores.
