Several farms in Matamata are seeing clinical signs of Facial Eczema

March 19, 2021

Grass samples tested this week from the MVS Monitor Farms have shown the following:
  • Hinuera Monitor Paddocks – 40,000 spores/gram
  • Matamata Monitor Paddocks – 36,000 – spores/gram
  • Te Poi Monitor Paddocks – 6,000 spores/gram
  • Tirau Monitor Paddocks – 56,000 spores/gram
  • Walton Monitor Paddocks –  26,000 spores/gram

Counts on monitor farms have slightly reduced this week, however, most farms are still showing moderate to high risk.  We anticipate this level of risk to continue for the coming weeks as conditions remain favorable for spore multiplication.

Measures to protect your stock against Facial Eczema should be undertaken ASAP, if they are not already in place.
