Cat bite abscesses and Feline AIDS
October 17, 2012
With spring in the air there is a lot more activity out and about within the cat population. Entire females and males are wandering a lot further and interrupting the hierarchy in a normally happy cat neighbourhood. This is leading to more cat fights and we are seeing more cat bite injuries and abscesses. The other disease that can be spread by fighting cats is FIV (cat AIDs).
Things you can do to prevent fighting and infection with FIV is to neuter both females and males, keep cats in at night, and consider vaccination for FIV.
Keep an eye out for abscesses forming on your cat as soft fluctuant lumps, sore areas or bite injuries.
