Another visiting Small Animal Specialist – this time from Switzerland.

January 11, 2016

We are very excited to have Dr Reto Fritsche all the way from Switzerland spending the next few weeks with us at GlenBred.

Dr Fritsche completed his veterinary degree at The University of Bern, Switzerland and soon afterwards was awarded a Doctorate in small animal reproduction from the University of Zurich.

Dr Fritsche was a clinical resident at the Veterinary School, Louisiana State University (LSU), USA where he mastered the technique of TCI as well as gaining extensive experience in semen freezing and the breeding management of bitches.

It was during his training program at LSU that Dr Fritsche met GlenBred’s own specialist, Dr Fiona Hollinshead while she was on sabbatical as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Reproduction in 2013.

Fiona was also one of Dr Fritsche’s supervisors for his Masters Program in small animal reproduction where he investigated the effects of canine prostatic fluid on chilled semen and was awarded a Master’s Degree for his thesis from LSU just last year.

Dr Fritsche has made the long journey ‘down under’ after a season in Switzerland to see how we do things here and to explore all of the beautiful and amazing attractions that New Zealand has to offer on his weekends. We hope some of you get to meet Dr Fritsche while he is here working with us. He is very excited to meet as many of you as possible and discuss the breeding objectives and goals in New Zealand.
