Latest Spore Count Readings

March 6, 2020

Grass samples tested this week from the MVS Monitor Farms have shown the following:

  • Hinuera Monitor Paddocks – 6,600 spores/gram
  • Matamata Monitor Paddocks –  5,000 spores/gram
  • Te Poi Monitor Paddocks –  13,333 spores/gram
  • Tirau Monitor Paddocks –   30,000 spores/gram
  • Walton Monitor Paddocks –   5,000 spores/grams

Lack of any significant rain is limiting spore multiplication. Grass samples submitted from Tirau and Te Poi have seen a slight increase and we expect this to continue with potential increasing moisture levels.

Grass samples submitted this week have only come from our monitor farms which provide us with trend data for our monitor areas. They should only be used as an indicator for potential risk and not taken as your actual on farm risk levels as counts vary from farm to farm.
