Denise Hughes CVN

Denise finished fulltime at Matamata Veterinary Services on 1st July 2016. You amy still see her from time to time though as she provides locum cover.

Denise completed her Certificate of Veterinary Nursing from Wintec in mid 2013 and shortly afterwards joined the MVS team. Prior to taking up veterinary nursing she spent many years working as a food technologist in the dairy industry and also as a professional photographer.

Originally hailing from the windy metropolis of Palmerston North, she and her husband have resided in the Waikato for over two decades now but still marvel at the glorious heat of the Waikato summers. They share their lifestyle block with Tui the geriatric pinto horse, and Kimi and Maya the chalk and cheese half-sister papillons. In her spare time she can usually be found trying to tame the garden.

Denise has always had a strong passion for animals and especially enjoys the challenge of understanding animal behaviour and how partnerships can be formed between humans and animals through consistent interaction and training.
